Bass Rock is a rock (obviously) that is located off the coast of Scotland near Tantallon Castle (not obvious). You can see in the picture above that the rock appears to be white. However, this is not its natural color. The white color you see is actually due to about 20,000 pairs of nesting birds who inhabit the rock. That is a lot of birds! When the monastery on the rock was occupied, they used to have to haul people up in baskets because the rock cliff is so steep.
