Lunenburg, Nova Scotia

The port town from which we went to watch whales was called Lunenburg. It is a World Heritage Site because it is so well-preserved and because it is a model layout for a town. It was definitely a cute little town and very picturesque.
This was my favorite tombstone in the cemetery. This young woman died of a broken heart--but not because her dastardly lover deserted her. She was a servant and her employed accused her of stealing money and promptly dismissed her. Of course, no one else would hire her after that. She was so traumatized by the ordeal that she became sick and died. She maintained her innocence till the grave. Later, a family member confessed to stealing the money. Oh, tragedy! How sad to be wrongly accused and powerless to defend yourself.

This is the school. It has a cemetery on three sides of it. It makes for an interested recess hour, I think.

I think this is a beautiful church. I love the contrast with the black and white.

The docks as seen from a boat. The bright colors were fun. It was a lovely port city.
