Florence

Highlights from Florence:

--Florence is famous for leather and gold, so we saw plenty of both. Our tour even took us to a leather factory for a tour, but we skipped out to see more of the city.

--Pizza. We had the most beautiful pizza in Florence from a little shop. Their food was so beautiful that I took a picture (to be posted later)

--The Duomo. We saw the great Dome and cathedral of St. Mary of the Flowers in Florence. The dome itself represents revolutionary architechture, so it gets a lot of attention. We didn't realize, however, how big and beautiful the cathedral itself is. It has three colors of marble on it--pink, green and white--all from the Tuscan region. It is an amazingly huge church.

--Statues in Piazza di Signoria. These include a replica of the famous David statue by Michelangelo and a statue of Perseus holding the head of Medusa.

--Falling out of the bus. So twice in a row when I was getting out of the bus I almost fell on our bus driver (whio helps people out of the coach). Once someone stepped on my skirt. The second time my bag got caught in the railing. Luckily, our bus driver, Enzo (or Ansel as MBC calls him), was very nice about it all.
