Yesterday we went on a boat tour of the Kennet and Avon canal. It was a fun little tour despite the rain. We were the only non-English people on the boat. One of the families riding with us had two little boys. At one point, one of the moms was explaining to the little boy how in the United States they like to eat sandwiches with peanut butter and jello. Someone in her group corrected her (possibly the child she was talking to) and said that Americans actually eat jelly on their sandwiches. I really couldn't resist laughing. It was hard not to.
Then the little boy was practicing his "American" and saying "peanut butter and jelly sandwich" over and over again. It was funny becuase his mom actually referred to his speaking as "American"--not as an accent but as if we speak an entirely different language. Good times.
