The Tour

So the first two weeks of our trip were part of a package tour. The tour started in Rome and then we stopped in Pisa; Florence; Venice; Innsbruck, Austria; Lucerne, Switzerland; Paris and London. Now that the tour is over, I realize how spoiled we were while we were with the tour group. We didn't have to arrange transportation. We never carried our luggage--it would magically appear by our door and then in the mornings we would put it outside the door to be collected. We had someone around to answer all of our questions. We stayed in much nicer hotels than we would have paid for on our own. We didn't have to do extensive planning about what to do or see because most of it was arranged. Now we are on our own, and although there are benefits to having this flexibilty, there are things that I miss about being with the tour group. We had a fun group to be with, especially the rowdy Australians in the back and the nice Canadians.


I'm putting in a video of our Tour Director telling us a story on the coach. She is French and she speaks Italian, German and English. And she was hilarious. Maybe one of these days I will post some of her quotes and stories. But for now you can enjoy the video and the great French accent.

We definitely got some good quotes and stories from our tour director. We once asked her is she ever left anyone behind. She said that did once, but it was on purpose. There was a couple on the tour that was always late to meet the group and she thought that they were being really rude to the other tour members, so she bided her time and left them at a strategic location. They were angry, but they weren't ever late again.

She also told us that the Swiss cows are her favorite cows. They are pretty cool. No wonder Switzerland has good cheese and chocolate.
